I don't normally bet NASCAR (aside from a couple pools a year), but I do like betting the Daytona 500. It's the race that every stock car driver dreams about winning. Full of surprises and break through performances. I have a few bets that I really like, and a couple long-shot winner plays. You can count on drivers to do well in the Daytona 500, but when it comes to winning the thing, no driver is worth anything less than 10/1. That being said, here are my plays (based on a 0-4 unit system):
Match-ups:
Martin Truex Jr. over Juan Pablo Montoya -115 (2 units)
Dale Earnhardt Jr. over Jimmie Johnson -145 (3 units)
To win:
Ricky Stenhouse 65/1 (.5 unit)
Denny Hamlin 25/1 (.5 unit)
Good luck to everyone who wagers on this one. I hope the rain isn't too much of a factor, then again, it might level the playing field.
